Free School Meals

From September 2014 the Government introduced the Universal Free School meal scheme eligible to all children in school years Reception, Year one and Year Two to receive a free school meal. If your child is eligible under this new scheme it means they will be able to enjoy a variety of balanced healthy meals provided by the school's catering team.  You will not have the additional effort and expense of making packed lunches every day (this equates to a saving of around £380 per year, per child.)  We would also like to provide you with further information regarding free school meals eligibility.

Did you know that if your child is entitled to free school meals the school receives additional funding? (Pupil Premium.) This additional funding can be used for additional support for pupils including:

  • Subsidised Educational Visits

  • Subsidised Residential Visits

  • Teaching Assistant Support (SEN/Intervention groups)

  • One to one sessions (Targeted support for individual pupils)

  • Social Group Training in Forest School Sessions

  • Additional training tor phonics; social skills and Numbers Count

  • Music for targeted pupils

Please note:  Free school meal eligibility is different to the Universal Free School meals that all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to.  Please consider applying if you are in receipt of the following benefits:

  • Child Tax Credit (but not working tax credit and that your annual income is less than £16,190)
  • Income Support
  • Income-Based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Income Related Employment and Support Allowance
  • The Guarantee Element for State Pension Credit
  • Asylum Seeker (Immigration & Asylum Act 1999, part VI)

If you wish to apply, you must complete an online application available from the Coventry City Council website.
